Bake-a-Rama: Day Two

Whip that cream!!

What a fantastic group of young cooks we have this week!  They’re polite, talented, considerate, and oh yeah, they can whip up cream puffs and chicken potpie like they were born to do it.  You’re going to love these pics:

Bake-a-Rama: Day One

We thought we’d take it easy the first day and test out the teens and tweens mad baking skills with pizza, cupcakes, and a bit of brioche dough to use later in the week for cinnamon rolls.  THIS is going to be an excellent week!

What do you have there Mollie? :)

Iron Chef: Planning Day

On Thursday the teens were responsible for bringing in recipes to pitch to their groups, using the secret ingredient: The chicken or the egg.  But you can’t just plan, so we whipped up a basic yeast dough and made pizza too – BBQ Chicken and Taco pizza to be exact. As always, they did a great job, and I’m excited to see what they come up with on Friday. Woo hoo!

Moving the dough from the table to the tray. Great job!

Culinary World Tour: Morocco

I thought we’d mix it up a bit with our International menus and include Morocco this year. From chicken kabobs and orange cake to couscous and carrot salad, this colorful meal was full of new flavors for our students.

Iron Chef: Basics Baking

Chicken potpie with homemade herb crust and technicolor cupcakes topped the menu on Wednesday at Iron Chef camp.  Plus, the secret ingredient(s) was revealed for Friday’s competition: the chicken and the egg.  Can’t wait to see what recipes these teens bring in today!

Culinary World Tour: Mexico!

What kid doesn’t like a churro?  These guys sure do!  With a quick trip south of the border, these kids whipped up fajitas, churros, roasted corn salsa, and more!

We used yellow peppers in our fajitas. :)
